Liquid crystal molecules have a 90 ° twist in their natural state. When an electric field is applied, the liquid crystal molecules rotate, changing their birefringence and thus affecting the polarization direction of polarized light. By selecting an appropriate thickness, the polarization direction of polarized light is changed by 90 degrees, and two parallel polarizing plates are used to completely prevent light from passing through. When a sufficiently large voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are parallel to the direction of the electric field, and the polarization direction of light remains unchanged, allowing light to pass through the second polarizer and achieve brightness control of light
The structure of a monochrome black and white liquid crystal display screen includes components such as backlight panel, thin-film transistor, light guide plate, polarizing plate, liquid crystal material, filter plate, filter glass, and alignment film. The liquid crystal material itself does not emit light and requires a backlight module to provide a light source. The light emitted by the backlight module becomes uniform after passing through the light guide plate and polarizing plate, and then the polarization direction of the light rotates when passing through the liquid crystal layer, ultimately passing through or blocking the polarizing film, forming a black and white display effect
